Formlabs announced the Form Studio 1 on October 14, positioning it as a more accessible desktop resin-printing system. The announcement combines a new printer with resin cartridges, washing and curing options, software tools, and an optional emissions extractor. That makes the news less about a single machine and more about a complete workflow.
What Formlabs announced
The company lists a 35-micron pixel size, an enclosed print chamber, automatic resin dispensing and heating, and a flexible build platform with quick release. Formlabs says the printer starts at $699, with shipping expected to begin November 16, 2026. Six Alpha Resin colors were also announced, starting at $29 per liter.
Formlabs says the printer earned UL GREENGUARD Gold certification when used with its specified Alpha Resins and VOC Extractor. Those are company-reported conditions; anyone considering resin printing should still follow the printer, resin, and safety documentation for the exact materials and setup they plan to use.
Why hobbyists may pay attention
Resin printing is popular for detailed miniatures, but the printer is only part of the process. Resin handling, washing, curing, and cleanup shape the total cost and convenience. An integrated setup may make those steps easier to plan, though real-world print quality, operating costs, and availability will be clearer after broader hands-on reviews.
This is an announcement, not an independent test. Read the Formlabs release for full specifications and availability.
