ANSI and America Makes announced two additive manufacturing resources in a release dated October 1, 2026: a searchable standards database and the September 2026 Gaps Progress Report.
Finding relevant standards
The database allows keyword searches and filtering by categories such as material, process, and standard type. According to the announcement, access is free after completing a short online form, and the resource will be updated regularly.
Both resources come from the Additive Manufacturing Standardization Collaborative, jointly led by the two organizations.
Tracking work still in progress
The report updates five of the 141 gaps identified in version 3.0 of the collaborative's roadmap. It identifies no new gaps, with a further progress report anticipated in April 2027.
For readers exploring industrial printing, our takeaway is to treat standards discovery as a separate step from choosing a printer. A searchable index can help locate relevant documents; it does not itself certify a part or replace the requirements in those documents.
