The Open Resin Alliance published DragonFruit v0.1.16 on October 6, 2026. The open-source resin slicer's new development build focuses on support generation, model orientation, and a collection of slicing and interface fixes.
Changes to model preparation
According to the release notes, the revised automatic-support system considers the stability of a model's pose and uses new branching and bracing behavior. Auto-Orientation adds selectable objectives and a one-click way to apply a proposed orientation.
Paintable support blockers let users mark areas where automatic contacts should not be placed. The update also changes support routing and improves viewport shading so crevices and fine relief are easier to distinguish.
A preview for experienced testers
Version 0.1.16 is explicitly a development prerelease. The maintainers target these builds at advanced users and contributors, and warn that unstable behavior can include crashes, data loss, and potential hardware damage. It should be evaluated as experimental software.
For miniature printing, our main interest is the balance between support coverage and keeping important surfaces accessible. Useful testing would compare the proposed contact locations on a familiar sculpt, with special attention to faces and other focal details. New automation still needs informed inspection.
