ELEGOO published a September 29, 2026, report on using Silent Mode with the Centauri Carbon. Its focus is the balance between operating noise and the time needed to finish a print.
What ELEGOO observed
The company describes lower fan speeds and slower, less abrupt toolhead motion, accompanied by a noticeable reduction in noise. The tradeoff was longer printing time. ELEGOO also notes that keeping the machine active longer can increase overall energy use, depending on the job and operating conditions.
Some examples appeared cleaner at the slower setting, but ELEGOO explicitly cautions that Silent Mode is not a universal quality improvement. Model geometry, material, temperature, cooling, and other settings still matter.
Read ELEGOO's full Silent Mode report for its observations. This is coverage of that report, not an independent noise test or an announcement of a new printer.
Make the comparison useful for your own projects
For hobbyists evaluating a setting, we suggest keeping a short project log. Record the model, material, chosen mode, completion time, and one detail you want to inspect afterward. Photograph that detail from the same angle on both samples.
Then write down what mattered most for that job: meeting a deadline, getting a particular surface finish, or making the workspace more comfortable. A consistent record gives you a better basis for the next choice than remembering only which print finished first.
