Bambu Lab announced PETG Matte on September 28, 2026. The company presents the filament as a matte-finish option intended to make layer lines less conspicuous, with an updated formulation aimed at improving resistance to ambient humidity and the printing experience.
Those are manufacturer claims, rather than results from testing by PrintedByAliens. The launch post provides Bambu Lab’s examples and product information.
Start with the job the part needs to do
A finish you like is one part of a material decision. For a hobby desk project, write down the practical requirements as well: the available space, contact with other parts, expected handling and any temperature exposure. A decorative label holder and a fitted storage insert may need different checks even if you want them in the same color.
Here is a simple project brief to use before buying filament:
- Appearance: What color and surface finish would suit the workspace?
- Fit: Which dimensions, clearances or moving parts need a test piece?
- Use: What material properties does the job actually require?
- Setup: What printer compatibility, preparation and settings does the supplier specify?
Use the material's technical guidance to answer those questions. A launch photograph is useful for visual inspiration, but it cannot establish whether a part will meet your particular requirements.
How this relates to miniature shopping
This is filament news for FDM printing; it does not change the materials stated on our miniature listings. If you are choosing between printing a design yourself and ordering a physical model, read our physical print and STL buying guide.
For a project that starts at the paint desk, explore our physical miniature catalog and check the material, contents and available options on the item you choose.
